This week students will be exploring 3-dimensional shapes in math. We will discuss the attributes of 2-dimensional shapes and 3-dimensional shapes. In reading we will continue learning how to read non-fiction texts. We will learn to break text into smaller, more manageable sections, and think about key details. Students have begun working on their in class biome posters. They have been busy taking notes and writing welcoming paragraphs. Please let me know if you have any questions about the At-Home diorama project.
I hope you all enjoyed your April Vacation. The students had a great time on our bowling field trip and our trip to the Palace Theatre. During the month of May we will be studying biomes of the world. Students will be reading non-fiction texts, focusing on understanding keywords and using context clues and meaning to figure out unknown word meaning. They will be writing as experts about biomes, focusing on punctuation, introduction statements, and research skills. The students will be completing a project in class about a biome of their choice, as well as creating a diorama at home. Please be on the lookout for the home project directions. In math we will be learning Geometry. Students will learn about attributes, partitioning shapes, and telling time. We will continue to review and practice multi-digit addition and subtraction as well as word problems. Please practice math facts with your student at home.
